Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information this website (thomaslee.co.za) collects, why, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who is responsible

What the site collects, and why

No forms. The site has no contact form and no mailing list. If you book a call, the booking is handled by Microsoft Bookings under Microsoft's own privacy terms. If you email me, I use your email only to reply.

Visit statistics. To see which pages are useful, the site records each page visit, and each click on the booking, LinkedIn or email links: the page, the site that sent you, the type of device, the country, and a random number kept only while your browser tab is open. It uses no cookies and is never linked to your name or contact details. It is kept for 14 months.

Google Analytics, only if you accept. If a cookie notice appears and you click "Accept", the site loads Google Analytics, which sets cookies (named _ga) to measure visits. Google processes this data on my behalf, including outside South Africa. If you click "Decline", Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

Site performance. The site measures how quickly pages load on your device (no personal information) so it stays fast.

Who else handles information

• Supabase stores the site's content and visit statistics.
• Vercel hosts the website (worldwide network).
• Google Analytics, only if you accept (see above).

Some of these are outside South Africa. I only use providers bound by agreements or laws that give your information protection substantially similar to POPIA (section 72). I never sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, object to its use, and withdraw consent you gave (for example to analytics cookies). Email hello@thomaslee.co.za and I will respond within 30 days.

If you are not happy with how your information was handled, you may complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.

Changes

This notice is updated if what the site does changes, and the date above shows when.
